CPAC-S: Contextual Probes of Articulation Competence–Spanish Brian Goldstein • Aquiles Iglesias AGES: 3-0 through 8-11 TESTING TIME: 5 to 10 minutes for the screening tool, 20 to 25 minutes for the assessment, 3 to 5 minutes per probe ADMINISTRATION: Individual The Contextual Probes of Articulation Competence–Spanish (CPAC-S) is an assessment and therapy tool kit for working on Spanish articulation and phonology. It is based on the “Contextual Probes of Articulation,” found in the Secord Contextual Articulation Test (S-CAT). Simple to use, the CPAC-S contains a Quick Screen that assesses all Spanish phonemes and many frequently occurring phonological patterns. In addition, it contains a Full Assessment that provides a comprehensive analysis of a client’s articulation and phonological skills. This is a clinical management program that: • probes the production of all Spanish phonemes in a variety of phonetic and phono- logical contexts. • examines performance across different speech-production levels (prevocalic/ postvocalic words, clusters, and sentences). • identifies facilitating (correct) contexts. • increases generalization.

aware of a client’s performance in response to intervention. The CPAC-S is the perfect tool to help build a successful program for the remediation of articulation and phono- logical disorders. This comprehensive, criterion-referenced test is based on data from studies relative to phonological processes. The results of the test show linguistic behaviors measured against certain criteria. COMPLETE CPAC-S KIT INCLUDES: Examiner’s Manual, Client Words and Sentences Lists, and Assessment Stimulus Flip Easel, all in a sturdy storage box, plus the CPAC-S Normative Data Manual. (©2006)

• serves as an ongoing measure of progress. • allows clinicians to help plan intervention.

Routinely administer as an initial examination protocol and use the results to identify intervention targets. It identifies exact pretreatment performance for any Spanish sound or particular phonological pattern and helps clinicians determine when the client is ready to progress to the next articulatory level, when to choose another phoneme to target, and when to dismiss clients from treatment. Articulatory and phonological patterns are constantly changing. Therefore, treatment for disorders in these areas requires constant monitoring and responsiveness to the changes that result from intervention. Speech–language pathologists need to be

photographs of Dudsberry, the Golden Retriever puppy, interacting with objects that contain the target phonemes, allowing for calculation of standard scores, confidence intervals, percentile ranks, and percentile bands. Determination of consonant inventory, percentage of consonants correct, word shape knowledge, and presence of phonologi- cal patterns, as well as evaluation of vowel production, all provide valuable qualitative analyses at the word level. Additional qualitative features of the SPAT-D 3 include: • consistency in sound production and intelligibility in connected speech, utilizing the story of “Dudsberry’s Day at School”; • two Multisyllabic Word Screeners (Basic and Advanced) for qualitative assessment of consonants in complex contexts to aid in gathering data regarding the stability of sound production in more complex sound contexts and goal formulation for older children; and • resources to provide an in-depth guide for the influence on English production of the six most prevalent languages/dialects spoken in the United States to help determine a speech difference versus a true speech-sound disorder. COMPLETE SPAT-D 3 KIT INCLUDES: Examiner’s Manual, 44 Color Photographs (4 " x 6 " ) in a bound album, 30 Response Forms, Laminated Page of Eliciting Statements, and Laminated Multisyllabic Basic Screener Photo Sheet, all in a sturdy storage box. SPAT-D 3: Structured Photographic Articulation Test–Third Edition Featuring Dudsberry ® Patricia J. Tattersall • Janet I. Dawson AGES: 3 through 10 The popular articulation assessment Structured Photographic Articulation Test has once again been revised to provide clinicians with not only a quantita- tive tool but also a way to gather important qualita- tive information to assess the speech production skills of children. Results of the various quantitative and qualitative aspects of SPAT-D 3 can be used for qualifying the child for services as well as developing treatment goals, monitoring progress, and determining dismissal. TESTING TIME: 15 minutes ADMINISTRATION: Individual The 5-year development process resulted in the third edition of Structured Photographic Articulation Test , SPAT-D 3, providing normative data based on a sample of more than 2,400 children reflecting the most recent U.S. census data.
