CAAP-2: Clinical Assessment of Articulation and Phonology–Second Edition Wayne Secord • JoAnn S. Donohue AGES: 2-6 to 11-11 TESTING TIME: 15 to 20 minutes ADMINISTRATION: Individual

The CAAP-2 is a current assessment for articulation and phonology. It is time-efficient, accurate, and yields results that are easy to score and interpret. You can administer the Articulation Inventory in 15–20 minutes. The checklist approach to assessing phonologi- cal processes virtually eliminates the need for phonetic transcription. The CAAP-2 is an assessment that you will like giving and children will enjoy taking! QUALIFY STUDENTS FOR THERAPY WITH: • Word standard scores

• Cluster words containing S , R , and L in the initial position • Three- and four-syllable words • Postvocalic productions of R • The production of sounds in sentences (for children 5 years and older)

• Sentence standard scores • Phonology standard scores • Articulation inventory targets • Pre- and postvocalic consonant singletons

• Record forms highlight target words in the stories for easy tracking of connected speech. • Stories are in color to elicit easy repetition by children age 4 and older. • Includes separate story sections for children and adolescents/adults. • Spiral-bound book in an easel format presents each story on one side and the text on the other side. PART 2—CONTEXTUAL PROBES OF ARTICULATION COMPETENCE (CPAC) • Assumes that both articulation and phonology are dynamic, constantly changing processes that require constant monitoring and responsiveness to the day-to-day changes that result from intervention. • In-depth contextual probes assess phonemic and phonological contexts for 23 consonants, vocalic R variations, 11 vowels and four diphthongs, and 16 different phonological processes. • Includes a reproducible record form for pretest and posttest probes for all conso- nants, all spiral-bound. PART 3—TARGET WORDS FOR CONTEXTUAL TRAINING (TWCT) • Contains practice words and word combinations for 24 consonant phonemes, vocalic R , and all vowels and diphthongs. • Provides more than 30,000 training words and word combinations keyed to both the CPAC and SPAC. • Includes ideas for facilitating generalization, improving consistency of production, and identifying facilitating context. The CAAP-2 is a valid and reliable instrument. The CAAP-2 standardization sample included 1,486 children from the United States and closely resembles 2013 U.S. Census data. Concurrent validity studies comparing the CAAP to the GFTA-2 and the KLPA-2 were significant beyond p < .01 for all raw scores, standard scores, and percentile ranks (ranging from .789 to .948). Inter-rater reliability coefficients were all above .99.

S-CAT: Secord Contextual Articulation Test Wayne A. Secord • Richard E. Shine AGES: 4 through adult TESTING TIME: Varies with student ADMINISTRATION: Individual

This unique, three-part program helps speech– language pathologists gain greater precision and efficiency in the clinical management of articulation and phonological disorders. For the first time, it is possible to not only determine

the exact pretreatment status for any particular phoneme or phonological process but also evaluate progress during treatment, ensure that treatment is targeted where it is most needed, link practice materials to the assessment process, document the overall effectiveness of intervention, and decide with certainty when to dismiss a patient from treatment. It is ideal for use in designing realistic IEPs that contain measurable objec- tives. Each of the three S-CAT components are self-contained for convenient use and include all stimulus materials, instructions, and money-saving reproducible protocols. PART 1—STORYTELLING PROBES OF ARTICULATION COMPETENCE (SPAC) • Provides 25 humorous and delightfully illustrated children’s stories with a minimum of 10, and often more than 20, uses of the target phoneme in a variety of word con- texts and syllable functions. • Probes each of 23 consonants, vocalic R , and all vowels and diphthongs. • Includes a reproducible record form for each target sound.
